Presbyterian Medical Group seeks a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our established Oncology practice in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We're all about well-being, starting with yours. Practice Highlights:
Summary:
Provide consultative care services to patients with oncology and hematologic diseases. Services include obtaining pertinent history, performing examinations, ordering and interpreting appropriate laboratory tests and prescribing appropriate medications and treatment. Assistance with Radiation Oncology for follow-up patients
Responsibilities:
*Evaluates and assesses patients for high risk of cancer, oncology and hematologic disorders and manages high risk clinic for breast cancer.
*Use appropriate judgment to work autonomously and collaborate with the healthcare team to manage patient care throughout the continuum in a variety of settings, namely, Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Surgical Oncology and Radiology.
* Conducts hospital rounds on assigned oncology/hematology and radiation oncology patients
*Educates physician groups regarding high risk models for breast and GI cancers; educates and counsels individuals and families for high risk of cancer and radiation follow-up.
*Orders, conducts and implements genetic counseling for patients and based upon established algorithms works in coordination with certified genetic counselor
*Continuously monitors radiation patients, evaluates effectiveness of therapeutic interventions and reports outcomes to appropriate physician.
*Dictates specific notes as directed by supervising physician (e.g. consultation notes, follow-up notes, radiation treatment summaries and quality assurance notes.
*Participates in radiation chart rounds, prepares medication orders and follow-up instructions for radiation patients, and contributes to overall patient care
*Screens symptom calls and triages to radiation, medical , surgical or breast oncologists, as needed
*Serves as health care resources and patient advocate and performs other functions as required.
Credentials Required:
For Nurse Practitioner - Masters degree in Nursing, New Mexico Nurse Practitioner license, federal and state DEA license and ANCC or AANP certification required. Minimum of one year experience preferred but not required
For Physician Assistant - Baccalaureate prepared CAHEA Certified Physician Assistant or two (2) years working experience as a Certified Physician Assistant, and licensed by the New Mexico Board of Medical Examiners required. Minimum of one year experience preferred but not required.
