About Presbyterian Cancer Care

Dedicated to improving the health of our community, Presbyterian Cancer Care is New Mexico’s resource for comprehensive and compassionate cancer care.  Our team of surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists, oncology certified nurses, research staff, radiation therapists, dosimetrists, physicists, nurse navigators, social workers, psychologist, and dietitians work together to incorporate the latest research and treatment options to create the best treatment plan for each patient.

 

The Cancer Care program is seeking an experienced  Medical Oncologist (Hematology and Oncology) to join our busy program in Spring, 2024.  

 

Practice Highlights

  • 60% Oncology / 40% Hematology
  • See an average of 22+ patients per day.
  • Clinic hours M – F 8 -5 Tuesday and Thursday Tumor Board
  • Practice Responsibilities: 80% office, 10% inpatient, 10% admin.
  • Call frequency: 7 weeks per year
  • Member of the New Mexico Cancer Care Alliance for clinical trials
  • Systemwide Epic (EMR) system

 

 

Summary

Diagnose and treat cancer in adults using chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, biological therapy, and targeted therapy. Medical oncologist works in collaboration with the supportive care team and may coordinate treatment given by other specialists. Hematology includes diagnosis and treatment of blood disorders

 

Responsibilities

In alignment with NCCN guidelines, order and oversee diagnostic testing; prescribe treatment and supportive medications; collaborate with the care team to include palliative care, psychology, social work, PT, OT, Speech, dietician, nursing, research to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Oversee care provided by Advanced Practice Clinicians, as required by provider licensure. Participate in process improvement which drives standard of care across the continuum. Participation in tumor board(s) is required.
