About Ruidoso, NM

Nestled between the tall pines and mountain vistas at an elevation of 6,900 feet, Ruidoso is home to Presbyterian Lincoln County Medical Center, which has served the community and surrounding areas since 1950 when the facility first opened as the Ruidoso-Hondo Valley General Hospital.

 

With a population of nearly 20,000, Lincoln County offers many larger-town amenities in a smaller-community environment, including:

  • Five public school districts throughout the area and a branch campus of Eastern New Mexico University that offers associate degree and various certificate programs.
  • Many real estate listings for move-in ready homes, including gated communities and country club memberships, as well as developments for building or purchasing land close to town for ranching.

Responsibilities

Summary
Diagnose and treat cancer in adults using chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, biological therapy, and targeted therapy. Medical oncologist works in collaboration with the supportive care team and may coordinate treatment given by other specialists. Hematology includes diagnosis and treatment of blood disorders


Responsibilities
In alignment with NCCN guidelines, order and oversee diagnostic testing; prescribe treatment and supportive medications; collaborate with the care team to include palliative care, psychology, social work, PT, OT, Speech, dietician, nursing, research to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Oversee care provided by Advanced Practice Clinicians, as required by provider licensure. Participate in process improvement which drives standard of care across the continuum. Participation in tumor board(s) is required.

Credentials
M.D. or D.O. with fellowship in Medical Oncology and Hematology
BC/BE Medical Oncology and Hematology
NM Medical License
Demonstration of CARES behaviors and the practice of collaborative care
3-5 years minimum experience preferred
